After refusing to approve a rezoning plan for part of the Menomonee Valley, aldermen have extra time to rethink the stink but they may have missed their best chance to reduce it.

The measure, aimed at curtailing the valley's notorious odors, on Friday was sent back to committee for a second time after it was nearly killed on the floor.

The maneuvering on the council, which is all but certain to face the matter again, could delay the zoning change long enough for a Green Bay company to purchase the old Milwaukee Tallow rendering plant and restart full-scale operations.
