Tom Burke has dreamed of this day for nearly five years, from the
moment he decided to play football for the University of Wisconsin.
"This is what I came to Wisconsin for, to go to the Rose Bowl,"
Wisconsin's senior All-American defensive end said emphatically.
The waiting is nearly over.
Along with teammates and coaches, Burke arrived Friday night in
Los Angeles in preparation for their meeting with sixth-ranked UCLA
in the 1999 Rose Bowl on Jan. 1.
"Even though they came up with the BCS and the Fiesta Bowl is now
supposedly No. 1, the Rose Bowl I still think is the Granddaddy of
them all," Burke said. "I couldn't think of any better way to end
