We've all read that bawdy bestseller known as The Starr Report,
and we've all wondered at times about the character and motivations
of its "author," Kenneth W. Starr.
In Time magazine, in his most extensive interview this year, the
independent counsel lets slip a few tantalizing and telling remarks
about the man he spent so long pursuing, and whose downfall he may
yet achieve.
Authors Eric Pooley and Michael Weisskopf observe that when Starr
talks about President Clinton, "a hint of envy creeps into his
voice," and that certainly comes across when Starr says of Clinton:
"It must be nice to have that kind of I.Q. Doing well academically .
. . but not having to spend all that terribly ...
