Mequon now may have a combination rifle sharpshooting and bow-hunting program to thin a deer herd that the Department of Natural Resources and some Mequon residents say is too large.

At the regular Wednesday meeting of the Mequon Common Council's Public Welfare Committee, committee members indicated that their support for a continued deer herd management program in the city.
