Article: Study suggests link between baldness and heart disease, but reason unknown

Bald may be beautiful, but it also may mean you are at higher risk of heart disease.

A provocative study from Boston's Brigham and Women's Hospital found a clear association between the degree of hair loss and increased risk of heart disease: the less hair, the more risk.

The risk was highest in those who have a bald pate with a fringe around the side. The risk for heart disease for such men was 30% higher than those with a full head of hair. The study results were presented at the recent annual scientific sessions of the American Heart Association in Dallas but went virtually unnoticed.
