Ron Dayne is running harder but breathing easier these days.
You can tell by the way the University of Wisconsin tailback drags
opposing linebackers around and by how he piles up yards after being
hit.
"There were a lot of yards after contact," said Dayne, who was
named the co-Big Ten offensive player of the week after gaining 190
yards in 39 carries in a 37-3 victory at Illinois.
Dayne gained 120 of those yards after contact. Videotape analysis
by the UW coaching staff shows that of his 834 yards this season, 377
came after being hit.
The Badgers' all-time leading rusher was slowed by an ankle sprain
suffered in training camp and has slowly gotten back up to speed.
