The Braddock Road Zephyr found itself in an unfamiliar spot
today. The club soccer team from McLean fell behind the Sting Soccer
Club of Dallas just 13 minutes into the under-20 women's final of
the U.S. Youth Soccer National Championships at Rose Mofford Sports
Complex.
"That kind of set us back a bit," said Zephyr Coach John
Kenny, whose team had been unscored upon in the tournament. "But
these girls have been playing together for a long time. They're all
true professionals. We certainly battled, but they knew what their
goal was."
And the Zephyr achieved it, rebounding for a 2-1 victory that
helped compensate for losses in the under-18 national semifinals in
1996 and the under-19 ...
