Who said the Monterrey Peninsula had the monopoly on spectacular
golf courses overlooking a large body of water?
Two new courses on opposite sides of Lake Michigan Whistling
Straits in Haven, Wis., and the Bay Harbor Golf Club in Petoskey,
Mich. offer the kind of unique golf experiences that can be found
on the California coast.
Golf Digest magazine went so far as to proclaim Whistling Straits
and Bay Harbor the "Pebble Beaches of the Midwest" last year.
The comparison is not a reach.
Bay Harbor, designed by Arthur Hills, is a 27-hole layout built on
the site of an abandoned quarry and cement works above Little
Traverse Bay.
