Kohl's Food Stores, in an effort to boost sales and profits, recently closed four Milwaukee-area stores, has four new stores in development and plans to remodel three others in 1999, company executives said Wednesday.

The $14 million in capital investments by Kohl's will bring larger stores with more goods and services to shoppers, an important part of competing in the grocery business, said Tim Wade, Kohl's vice president of merchandising.
