Article: Gant adds racial angle to his La Russa-bashing Attacks have followed trade from Cardinals

An ongoing hissing match between St. Louis manager Tony La Russa and former Cardinals outfielder Ron Gant got very personal Tuesday when Gant implied that La Russa was a racist.

Since being traded to Philadelphia three months ago, Gant has taken several shots at how La Russa runs his club. He criticized the veteran manager for batting home run champ Mark McGwire third in the lineup instead of fourth and for batting the pitcher eighth at times, calling the Cardinals "the laughingstock of the league."
