If a drive to raise about $150,000 for a bell tower in the village
of Pewaukee falls on deaf ears, Dick Richards, a hotel owner and an
advocate of a proposed casino nearby, would like to see the bells
moved near I-94 as a tourist attraction.
"I don't want to take (the bell tower) away from Pewaukee, but if
(bell tower supporters) can't put it together, I would donate land
and participate to get it here," said Richards, owner of the Country
Inn Hotel & Conference Center in Waukesha.
Also, Lac du Flambeau Chippewa spokesman Richard Matty said the
tribe, which is looking to place a casino next to the conference
center, could help pay for a bell tower if the Pewaukee group fails
to raise ...
