Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Michael J. Barron, who was elected
to Circuit Court in 1973 after serving two terms in the state
Assembly and nine years as a county supervisor, will retire from the
bench Aug. 31, he announced Wednesday.
Barron, a prolific storyteller fond of illustrating points with
personal anecdotes drawn from his 38 years as an elected official,
will go into mediation when he retires, but intends to return to the
bench occasionally as a reserve judge.
"I've been very fortunate to have served in public office all
these years," said Barron, who was selected twice by the state
