James E. Farr's career as a Milwaukee movie theater operator is
shaping up to be a short run.
Wisconsin's only black theater owner, Farr earlier this year lost
the Tosa Theater in a foreclosure action. Now, amid a deteriorating
financial picture, he and partner Elizabeth Figueroa are looking to
sell the much-larger Mill Road Theaters.
"I have lost a tremendous amount of money," Farr said.
Through a limited liability company they named Amethyst LLC, Farr
and Figueroa bought the Mill Road, at 6530 N. 76th St., just last
summer.
But Farr said they had been able to get only a handful of
first-run films and that revenue had shrunk to almost nothing, with
