Swiss billionaire industrialist and symphony conductor Paul Sacher died Wednesday after a long illness, the pharmaceutical giant Roche announced. He was 93.

Sacher, reportedly one of the world's richest men, and other family members controlled Roche Holding AG and had a joint fortune estimated at $17 billion to $20 billion.
