Article: State has final say on private prison's use Doyle says building under construction can't be used without lawmakers' OK

Unless the state agrees to lease, purchase or let others use a private prison under construction in western Wisconsin, it's likely the building will never house any inmates, Attorney General James Doyle said Friday.

Doyle said an Oklahoma company is free to build its prison in Stanley, as long as it complied with building codes. However, he said the facility could not be used as a prison without state approval.
