Article: Database Criminal Probe Sought; Rep. McIntosh Says White House Lawyer Possibly Hid Documents

A House Republican said yesterday that he will ask the Justice Department to investigate whether deputy White House counsel Cheryl D. Mills obstructed a congressional investigation by withholding documents before the 1996 presidential election and later lied under oath about her role.

Rep. David M. McIntosh (R-Ind.), chairman of a House Government Reform and Oversight subcommittee that has been investigating the White House's use of a computer database during the 1996 campaign, said he will also ask the Justice Department to investigate whether the White House was guilty of "theft of government property" by using information stored in the government database for campaign purposes.
