Article: An enviable dilemma for Whistling Straits PGA Championship or U.S. Open may be on horizon

The PGA of America has extended an offer to Whistling Straits to play host to the 2007 PGA Championship, PGA chief executive officer Jim Awtrey said Wednesday.

The question is, does Herb Kohler, who owns the links-style course in Haven, want it?

Whistling Straits, designed by Pete Dye and opened in 1998 to rave reviews, also is thought to be in line for a future U.S. Open. At some point, Kohler will have to decide whether he wants to pursue an Open, which is not a sure thing, or sign on the dotted line with the PGA.
