Article: Rail car's history re-pieced together After restoration of 1908 trolley, donors can admire it at East Troy museum

Car 26 once hummed along the rails in Sheboygan County.

From Sheboygan to Kohler, 5 miles in 20 minutes; Sheboygan to Plymouth, 16 miles in one hour and 13 minutes. Short rides, a nickel; longer rides a dime.

When the buses came, the rails disappeared. Car 26 was retired to the country life as a summer cottage on a piece of land near Belgium in 1938.

It was a place for grandchildren to visit and hold tea parties in the dining area that once was filled with passenger seats, or sleep in the bunk beds in the smoking lounge where men once gathered for the ride to Sheboygan Falls.
