Article: State OKs $125,000 for Henry Aaron trail, won't give more until city pitches in But lobbyist denies that Milwaukee hasn't committed to its fair share

State officials Tuesday approved $125,000 to design the second, 21/ 2-mile phase of the Henry Aaron State Trail but said the segment won't be built until Milwaukee officials agree on how much the city will contribute.

The state Building Commission unanimously voted to spend the $125,000 but added a restriction that no further state money can be used to construct the trail until Milwaukee officials decide on what their share will be.

The second phase of the trail will run from east of Miller Park, along the south side of the Menomonee River, to downtown Milwaukee. It will provide a new route for walkers, runners, baseball fans, bicycle commuters and other recreational users.
