Article: Ozaukee County to have lowest tax rate in state Board votes to provide relief with revenue from continuing couty sales tax

Ozaukee County put itself in position to have the lowest property tax rate of all of Wisconsin's 72 counties Wednesday when the County Board decided to use revenue from the county sales tax to lower property taxes.

"The sales tax shifts the tax burden to the user of services, whether they are a renter or a tourist," County Supervisor Gus Wirth of Cedarburg said in arguing for using the tax for property tax relief.

The vote to use the sales tax for property tax relief was 20-9.
