Although copious engineering reports, financial spreadsheets and
emotional arguments will be scrutinized and heard over the next six
months, the Green Bay Packers appear to be leaning toward building a
new Lambeau Field rather than renovating and expanding the existing
one.
Packers president Bob Harlan, however, indicated that the odds
favoring an estimated $300 million new open-air facility over an
estimated $125 million renovation project would be in the range of
60-40 and not as high as 80-20.
"Since we don't have any engineering reports yet, it's tough for
me to answer," Harlan said. "You probably would lean toward the new
