A judge is expected to rule today in the case of a "quick draw" shooting that left one youth dead and the other quadriplegic.

Children's Court Judge Thomas Cooper, who is presiding over the second-degree reckless homicide trial of 17-year-old Eduardo Rivera, charged in the death of his friend, Efrain Manual Casas, 15, said he expects to decide the case after attorneys for the defense and prosecution deliver their closing statements today.

On Thursday, defense attorney Robin Shellow asked that the charge of second-degree reckless homicide be dismissed. She argued that reckless homicide comprises two elements, the act and the mental state.
