Battles are routinely fought in the land of marriage -- insurgencies involving in-laws, clashes concerning children, skirmishes over sex and near-military action about money.

But the rockets' red glare most often may be seen in smaller minefields, in the combat about cooking, the wrangle over whites and darks, the contention about who cleans up.

Housework is hell.

But a new study of housework over 30 years indicates that the warfare may be ebbing because, well, no one seems to be doing much housework anymore.

The reason?

We no longer believe that home cooking and other tasks are worth the aggravation.
