Fund might not have enough for rest of Clintons' legal bills

Contributions dropped $1.6 million in last half of '99, trustees say

Washington -- Trustees of the Clintons' legal defense fund said Wednesday that they were uncertain whether they would be able to cover all $4.3 million in legal bills that the president and the first lady still owe.

Donations to the Clinton Legal Expense Trust slowed to $800,000 in the last six months of 1999, down from $2.4 million in the first six months of the year.
