Complaint says resident caught burglar red-, empty-handed

A husband-and-wife burglary team that specialized in stealing from apartments in the downtown Juneau Village complex was caught when a resident spotted the husband breaking into an unoccupied "model" apartment, according to a criminal complaint.

Gary Lynn Curtis, 29, and his wife of four months, Shawn Amber Curtis, 20, were charged this week with burglary after Gary Curtis confessed to police that since September he had broken into at least two dozen apartments at Juneau Village, 1009 N. Jackson St., Circuit Court documents say.
