Price is right for an easy trip on the Web

Free Internet access might be slow and burdened with annoying
advertisements, but it's still free, and several programs from large
free Internet service providers are easy to set up and use.
The catch with most free Internet access is that the providers
place advertising messages -- similar to Web banner ads -- on users'
screens while they're online. The ads are usually integrated into a
navigation tool bar that has buttons linking to search engines, e-
