Whistling Straits lands PGA Championship

Major golf tournament coming to state in 2004

The PGA of America's persistence in its pursuit of Whistling Straits finally paid off when it was announced Wednesday that the links-style golf course near Sheboygan would host the 2004 PGA Championship.

The event would be expected to draw as many as 175,000 spectators from around the world.
