Civil War symposium planned
Scholars to speak at Carroll College on role of the Middle West

Waukesha -- Carroll College's Institute for Civil War Studies is
sponsoring a major symposium in June that will feature speeches by
noted scholars and authors.
The June 23 and 24 symposium, "From the Mississippi to the
Potomac: the Middle West in the American Civil War," will highlight
the overlooked role of the Midwest in the war between the states,
said Lance Herdegen, the director of the institute.
"The role of the Westerners in the Civil War has really been
