GOP wants $16 million from House Republicans

Committee assignments to be linked to member's fund raising for party

Washington -- House Republicans are launching a campaign Wednesday to collect $16 million from their own members to use in tight races this fall, backed by enforcement mechanisms that include pledge cards and threats that future committee assignments will be based on fund- raising effort as well as seniority.
