Man loses appeal of strangulation conviction

Madison -- The 3rd District Court of Appeals Tuesday upheld the murder conviction of a man who strangled a girlfriend's 12-year-old daughter and hid her body in a marsh.

Norbert "Bill" Ellis, 50, was convicted in Marinette County in January 1999 of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse.

Ellis appealed his conviction, arguing that the court should not have allowed evidence of sexual encounters between him and children other than the victim.
