Agency waives adoption fee for adult cats

Crowding at facilities forces humane society to make exception for this month

To cope with a crisis of cats crowding its facilities at 4500 W. Wisconsin Ave., the Wisconsin Humane Society announced Friday that it would waive the adoption fee this month for any cat 1 year or older.

"We are adopting out a lot of kittens and younger cats, and sometimes the adult cats get overlooked," said Jill De Grave, education and program director for the humane society.

Throughout June, therefore, the adult cat adoption fee of $35 will not be charged. The adoption fee for a kitten will remain $50.
