Racine -- The ladies are lined up and the right man has been found. Let the pageant begin.

Less than a month ago, the 13th annual Mrs. Wisconsin-United States pageant was at risk of becoming the pageant that wasn't: Only six contestants had entered.

But public attention to the peril sparked interest, and 24 married women, including a 66-year-old contestant, are now ready to compete tonight for the crown.

"I was getting a little nervous, wondering if we could even have the pageant or not," director Lori Lawlor admitted.
