Tower Hill State Park provides a view of the land, and a view of the past

Spring Green -- Just inside the entrance to Tower Hill State Park is the great stone foundation of a barn erected for the Unitarian minister Jenkin Lloyd Jones, onetime owner of this marvelous piece of river land and an uncle of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright.

The foundation was unusually thick, Jones noted in a sermon in 1908, because his good Welsh mason would have nothing to do with mere 20-inch walls. He insisted on stone walls 24 inches thick, "as would befit a cathedral wall."

And likely, though Lloyd Jones would never have said so ...
