Death Cab for Cutie loses the rock bombast for elegance

Beyond the catch-all phrase "We wanna rock," few bands can
articulate their musical vision. (Most don't really have a vision, or
the ability to articulate what they'd like for dinner -- but that's
another article.) Death Cab for Cutie, however, can sum it up neatly.
"Great pop songs without the bombast," guitarist and lead singer
Ben Hibbard says. "I've become so turned off by large-guitar,
Marshall-half-stack, power-chord pop-rock. That kind of bouncy stuff
doesn't do it for me anymore."
On its second album, "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes,"
