Kohl's to sell online next year

E-commerce operation will be designed to complement in-store sales

Kohl's Corp. said Tuesday it would begin selling merchandise online by the spring of 2001, even as it continues to expand its rapidly growing chain of department stores.

The Menomonee Falls-based retailer, which has taken a conservative approach to the Internet so far, explained its strategy for the first time at its annual meeting to over 500 employees and shareholders at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel.

Kohl's intends to integrate its e-commerce operation with its stores, making sure the two complement each other. ...
