State's veterans chip in for World War II memorial
Even those who fought in other wars feel sense of urgency to build
national monument while some from era still live

A national monument honoring World War II veterans has the
financial and emotional support of Wisconsin's veterans, who are
reaching into their hearts and wallets to help the effort.
"I've been to the Vietnam memorial, and it's just such a healing
experience," said former state Veterans of Foreign Wars commander Tom
Tradewell, a Vietnam veteran. "It was time (World War II veterans)
had their place to go."
