Watts says poll shows support for keeping Park East Freeway

But officials question validity of failed mayoral candidate's March survey

Freeway supporter George Watts says a poll conducted for his failed mayoral campaign showed significant opposition to razing the Park East Freeway.

The survey, taken in early March, showed 45% of likely Milwaukee voters were against knocking down the freeway spur, with 25% in favor and the rest undecided or declining to state an opinion, Mequon pollster Bret Goodman said.

Watts said anyone who backs razing the spur is "either ill- informed or misinformed."
