Hospital sick from financial malpractice

Northwest General suffered as $6 million in bills went unmailed

A small northwest-side hospital is on the brink of financial collapse, in part because about $6 million worth of bills that should have been mailed were instead stuffed into boxes and forgotten.

Officials at Northwest General Hospital, 5310 W. Capitol Drive, can't explain the misplaced bills, which were discovered months ago when the finance office was moved. They still haven't been submitted for payment. Current executives blame it on constant turnover of staff and management.
