Cornish pasties taste of authenticity

Nancy Treweek, via e-mail, and Sue C. Kotajarvi, Milwaukee, sent
recipes for Cornish pasties as requested by John A. Smurawa,
Milwaukee.
Treweek wrote: "This recipe is from Cornish Recipes for Pasty &
Saffron Cakes from Pendarvis, 14 Shake Rag St., Mineral Point. I have
seen other recipes that included other vegetables, like peas and
carrots, but this seems to be the authentic one brought by the miners
from Cornwall, England . . . and the kind my husband's family has
eaten for generations -- just meat, potatoes and onions in a flaky
crust."
Kotajarvi wrote: "My Finnish husband was raised in Michigan's
Upper Peninsula ...
