Kohl's planning 30 stores in California, report says

Kohl's Corp. is contemplating an expansion in southern California, a newspaper reported Monday.

The Menomonee Falls-based retailer -- on a mission to expand coast- to-coast -- plans more than 30 store openings in the region in 2003, the Press-Enterprise of Riverside, Calif., reported. The newspaper based its report on comments from real estate brokers, city officials and shopping center developers.

Kohl's declined to comment Monday.

"We don't comment on speculation," Kohl's spokeswoman Susan Henderson said. "We have not made any announcements regarding the California market."
