Another study shows problems with Medicare

Patients aren't getting routine treatment, medical journal says

Chicago -- Many Medicare beneficiaries are not getting the treatment they should be receiving, such as regular mammograms for breast cancer survivors and annual vision tests for diabetics, a study found.

It was not clear from the study whether the fault lies with the patients or with their doctors.

The study, reported in today's Journal of the American Medical Association, looked at 345,253 Medicare patients 65 and older.
