Clinton creates 4th monument in Arizona: Vermilion Cliffs

Washington -- President Clinton has created a new national
monument to protect a spectacular line of red-hued cliffs in northern
Arizona and dramatically expanded an Idaho monument featuring an
eerie, volcanic landscape.
The 293,000-acre Vermilion Cliffs National Monument, near the
Colorado River north of the Grand Canyon, is the 10th monument
Clinton has created this year and the fourth in Arizona, over the
objections of the state's governor and other Republican officials.
Clinton also ordered 661,000 acres of federal land added to the
54,440-acre Craters of the Moon National ...
