The Dick Clark empire took shape early

Dick Clark was born Richard Wagstaff Clark on Nov. 30, 1929, in Bronxville, N.Y., and raised in the suburb of Mount Vernon. He attended Syracuse University and earned a degree in business administration before landing his first broadcasting job at WRUN radio in nearby Utica. His first job in television also was in the small central New York city.
