U.N. police officers quit over brothel raid

United Nations -- Six United Nations police officers serving in Bosnia have resigned under pressure after being threatened with disciplinary action for conducting an unauthorized raid of three brothels in a Serbian section of northern Bosnia, U.N. officials said Wednesday.

A U.N. spokesman credited the officers with having "liberated 33 women, many of whom had been forced into prostitution, some as young as 14" during a Nov. 13 crackdown on nightclubs in the town of Prijedor.
