Our forefathers deserve more credit
Craig Gilbert's article on the Electoral College was, in my
opinion, far too careless on such an important subject ("What to fix,
keep in Electoral College?" Dec. 4). The tone of the article caused a
casual reader to think that everyone believes the Electoral College
is either outdated or just plain wrong.
Gilbert's quote from Lloyd Cutler, former White House counsel for
Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, added to the picture of our founding
fathers as old fuddy-duddies whose ideas don't really work in today's
society. Cutler belittles our founding fathers. Why do we think that
we can idly cut ...
