Riding rails takes on new life in East Troy museum plans

East Troy -- Thick steel, polished wood, heavy nuts and bolts, ancient wheels and motors all seem to speak to Rudy Puerzer, 70, of West Allis.

Each time Puerzer steps into the "car barn" of the Electric Railroad Museum, he's seemingly transported back in time.

He remembers riding to Milwaukee's downtown to shop at Christmas when there were no suburban malls and everyone got around by electric train. He remembers how much fun it was to see the holiday window displays.
