West Palm Beach, Fla. -- Don't underestimate Mary Stepaniak. When this West Palm Beach resident gets a mind to do something, she does it. Case in point: The junk-mail project.

Now, Mary's a kind soul. She's got a great smile, and a laugh that makes you laugh. She's known for being funny and spontaneous. But in late 1999, the 67-year-old was fed up. Fed up with all the junk mail she and her husband, Ray, were getting.
