Clintons $4 million short on legal bills

Washington -- The legal defense fund for former President Clinton and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton raised only $750,000 over the past eight months, leaving the Clintons nearly $4 million short of paying the legal bills they have incurred since 1994.

Providing a final accounting, trustees of the fund said last week that it had received more than 116,400 individual contributions since its establishment three years ago, with donations averaging $75 each. A total of 138 people gave the maximum allowable gift of $10,000 a year.
