Elm Grove studies new flood strategy

Faced with concerns that diverted floodwater could cause problems in neighboring Wauwatosa, officials in Elm Grove are studying a new strategy to manage future floods.

The strategy could involve acquiring and demolishing two Blue Mound Road businesses -- the Sleepy Hollow Motel and Villager Apartments complex -- to clear the way for a large new detention pond.

Village leaders deny that their previous plan had posed a threat to Wauwatosa, but they are considering the new alternative developed by engineers at the Southeastern Wisconsin ...
