Frampton's career comes alive again

`Almost Famous' launches some good new days

"Almost Famous" scored only one statue Sunday night at the Academy Awards, for screenwriter Cameron Crowe.

But Crowe's autobiographical, rock 'n' roll coming-of-age film has been a smash with music fans. Last week, it made its home video debut and scored more than $5 million in rentals. Not too shabby.

No one's more pleased about the flick's ongoing success than Peter Frampton, the rock superstar of the 1970s who served as the film's technical adviser, supplied songs to the soundtrack and even made a couple of brief on-screen appearances playing ...
